Is anyone using Nessus for scanning open ports and unpatched servers? My friend said he can get into any server using Nessus because it finds all the security holes. I was going to try and use it but I dont have a server.

You can setup Nessus on any PC. I did it. It takes along time to get going and to scan. It will show you all kinds of info but I bet your friend is lying if he says he can get into any PC with it.

I have it running a box in a data center. I use from time to time to check out various things. I use it as more of a defensive tool than an offensive one.
