Network+

How hard is the Network+ in comparison to something like the CCNA or other networking cert? I bought a book to study for it, but I am wondering if I should take a class as well?

It is much easier. I took it about 5 years ago so I'm sure things have changed. However, it's one test and some of the questions were insanely easy. I probably could have passed without studying, but like every test, there will some crap that you will never need to know on there. Buy a book. A class is a waste of time and money.
