I used slackware last semester for a lab I was taking. The professor made us use it because he knows the guy who produced and released it. Knoppix is a collection of security tools that runs on a live Linux CD. It has stuff like port scanner, exploit detection, and other stuff. It's specifically meant to boot from a live CD on say a laptop for different security tests. My brother showed it to me a few years ago.

I've used it once. It's just too different for me because I'm used to the Red Hat stuff. It's a solid OS though.
