Is there anyway to get more information for specifics on server management? My friends want to start a company where we would manage people's servers. Where would we get the info on how to start this and what would we need to start it?

It's not as easy as it sounds and there are tons of companies out there doing it. I can tell you this, you will need a method or standard of doing it. Are you going to only manage Linux servers or Windows servers? You need to carve out a niche and stick to it.

A long time ago I worked at a small hosting shop that just sucked. The best way I describe it to people is "they weren't experts at anything so they did everything." You don't want to be like them.
