Has anyone taken Security+ before

It was recommeneded by a friend in the IT field to take security + exam. I am most a self taught guy and know a little about windows, linux, and networks. What should i do to study for this?

I did. There is some stupid stuff on there you will never use in the real world like every other cert. The best way is to get some practice tests and maybe a book. I found some practice tests online, learned them, and read over anything I didn't know to prepare. I passed on the first try.

Those comptia certs are okay for teaching you a few things but employers don't recognize them as a qualification.
